In 1977 Derek Linch was working as a lorry driver for a haulage company based in Rye, East Sussex, the company fell upon hard times and Derek was made redundant.
With a wife and two chidren to support he made the brave decision to start his own business.

Using a combination of borrowed money and hard earned savings he managed to purchase a 1969 Leyland Super Comet four wheel rigid. Gradually as the years went on the business expanded and Derek was joined by his younger brother Garry.

Being based in the fertile lands of Romney Marsh meant that the company transported the much famed local potaotes all over the country, as more vehicles were added to the fleet other types of fruit and vegetables were transported mainly to the wholesale markets.

In 1985 the fleet consisted solely of rigid vehicles and the decision was made to purchase the first artic, Derek had stopped driving shortly before and had become office bound stuggling to manage the day to day running of the company and organise both his own and many sub-contracted vehicles.

He decided to take on an extra member of staff and Derek Del' Carr joined the company. As the fleet grew bigger more work was required and the customer base grew, Derek Linch vehicles ventured further afield regularly delivering to mainland Europe.

The company prides its self on its administration and the accounts department was placed in the control of Rob Fraser, now in its 30th year the company continues to thrive and an extensive workshop and maintenance department has been added under the managemant of Garry Linch.

We look forward to the challenges of the coming years but will not forget what it took to get us where we are today.
